What is 347H Stainless Steel Tube?

347H Stainless steel tube is a high carbon stabilised austenitic Chromium Nickel Stainless steel alloy for high temperature service. This is a variation of the 347 grade, with increased carbon content that increases material’s strength at high temperatures. Columbium addition offers very good intergranular corrosion resistance thereby making it ideal for application where sensitization could be a problem such as in welded structures.

The 47H tubes can be applied in the petrochemical, chemical processing and the power generation industries where protection from oxidation and corrosion is vital. These tubes have desirable mechanical characteristics such as tensile and creep strength and it also withstands welding and stress corrosion cracking. They are used widely in high temperature applications such as heat exchanger, boiler, furnace parts and so on.

Advantages of Stainless Steel 347H Heat Exchanger Tubes

High-temperature and corrosive applications for heat exchangers are the primary uses of stainless steel 347H heat exchanger tubes. It is a higher carbon material than the 304 type and provides higher thermal strength which is useful in heat exchanger plates. The presence of columbium (niobium) brings improved resistance to carbide precipitation and intergranular corrosion in the…welded connection, for improved endurability.

These tubes also offer good antioxidant properties, and resist oxidation, sulfuric acids and other corrosive materials so as to increase the tubes durability in such conditions. In the same manner, for 347H heat exchanger tubes, the weldability is low and hence easy to fabricate, and it also shows the best thermal conductivity for heat exchanging.
