Is A269 TP304 Bright annealed tube same as hot rolled?

Bright annealed and hot rolled SA 269 Grade TP304 Coil Tubing solutions are not the same.

  • Bright annealing is the process of heating the tube in a controlled atmosphere to prevent oxidation and then rapidly cooling it. Hot rolling involves passing the steel through rollers at high temperatures.
  • ASTM A269 Gr TP304 Bright Annealed Tubes have a smooth, reflective and shiny surface. Hot rolled tubes have a rougher and scaled surface.
  • Bright annealing softens the material and improves its ductility and toughness. Hot rolled tubes are left in their as-rolled state.
