What is ASTM A269 TP316 tube?
ASTM A269 TP316 has nickel, chromium and less quantity of molybdenum in its chemical composition. They are intended for general corrosion resisting and low or high temperature service.
ASTM A269 TP316 Tube is used in industries like chemical, petrochemical, food processing, pharmaceutical, and marine. Type 316 ss material contains molybdenum in its chemical composition which enhances corrosion resistance, especially in chloride environments.
A269 TP316 Welded Tubes can have OD ranging from 1/8" to 5" and wall thicknesses between 0.015" to 0.320".
Why is annealing needed for ASTM A269 TP316 bright annealed tubes?

Is ASTM A269 TP316 stainless tubing measured by ID or OD?
ASTM A269 Grade 316 Heater Tubes are measured by their OD because they are used with push to connect fittings. It includes the outer circumference of the tube along with the wall thickness. However, if the tube is spiral in shape, they can be measured by their ID and wall thickness. They are generally used with compression fittings.

Is ASTM A269 TP316 Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 stronger?
SCH 80 SA 269 TP 316 Seamless Tubes have greater wall thickness than SCH 40 ones. This means that sch 80 is able to withstand higher pressure ratings and has greater strength. Thus, sch 40 tubes are ideal for low pressure applications. Whereas, sch 80 tubes are used for industrial and chemical applications.
