ASTM B423 pipe

What is ASTM B423 Pipe?

The ASTM B423 is a standard specification for pipes containing chromium and nickel in its alloy. It also has iron, molybdenum and copper of less amounts in its chemical composition. They are available in the form of hot-finished or cold-worked ASME SB 423 nickel chromium pipe solutions and are intended for use in general corrosive applications.

They offer great resistance to most corrosive environments, including chloride-ion related stress corrosion cracking. It also shows good resistance to reducing environments, like the ones having sulphuric and phosphoric acids in them. Adding molybdenum to the chemical composition also increases the resistance of the tube against pitting and crevice corrosion. The ASTM B423 Pipe is used in applications like nuclear fuel reprocessing, acid production, chemical processing, radioactive waste handling, etc.

SB 423 Tube delivery conditions

The ASTM B423 Seamless Tubing delivery condition is basically the state in which they are supplied to the customers. Adhering to specific conditions will ensure that the tube has acquired the specifications required for an application. Some of the common delivery conditions of the tubes are annealed & pickled, bright annealed, cold drawn & annealed, solution annealed, stress relieved, etc. Suppliers would first understand the requirements of the client and relevant industry standards to choose the right delivery condition for ASTM B423 nickel chromium tubes.

What is ASME SB 423 Cold-Worked Pipe?

SB 423 Cold-Worked Pipe undergo a shaping process at ambient temperature, below their recrystallization temperature. The process involves using oil or water solutions for lubrication and cooling during the cold forming operation of SB 423 Material unheated pipes and tubes. This process is in contrast with various hot working techniques like hot rolling, welding, etc.

The cold worked pipes are in great demand due to their corrosion resistance properties. The material composition also helps it to show good resistance to different oxidizing agents, including nitric acids, nitrates, and oxidizing salts.

We supply small diameter SB 423 material and SB 423 Cold-worked Pipe in sizes ranging from 6.00 mm to 914.4 mm
