What is Stainless Steel Welded Tube?
The process of creating a Welded Stainless Steel Tube involves rolling stainless steel strips into the shape of a tube, then welding the longitudinal seam. There are two methods for creating welded tubing: hot forming and cold forming.

What is SS ERW Pipe?
Stainless steel Electric resistance welded pipe, or ERW pipe for short, is a carbon steel pipe that has been lightly coated in chromium to increase corrosion resistance. ERW pipe is a type of welding in which two metal components are heated with an electric current to permanently fuse the metal at the connection.

How to Weld SS ERW Pipe with Tig Welding Wire?
E308/E308L are the most popular TIG filler wires, however you should always try to choose a filler material that matches the welded stainless alloy. The welded material should have a greater thickness than the filler wire. If it's thicker, melting the wire will require more heat than melting the base metal.
| TIG Filler Wire Type | Welded Stainless Steel Alloys |
|---|---|
| E308 | 301, 302, 304L, 321 |
| E309 | 304, 304L, 309, 309L, it’s also used to weld stainless to carbon steel |
| E316 | 316, 316L |
How to Weld Stainless Steel Tube without Purging?
This technique produces excellent welds without the need for purging gas by combining cutting-edge welding supplies and equipment with adjusted welding settings. Welders can now cut costs and time without sacrificing the quality of their work. Miller® RMD®, an alternative to conventional TIG welding, does away with the requirement for gas purging throughout the stainless steel pipe welding process. The primary use for RMD®, a modified form of short-circuit GMAW, is pipe root pass welding. The GMAW gun's fine control over metal transfer means that shielding gas is not greatly disturbed as it escapes. This shielding gas successfully displaces oxygen and ambient air via the pipe's open root. The back of the weld is prevented from oxidizing in this way.
