What is 317L stainless steel tube?
The 317L material is made of a low carbon austenitic stainless steel, which shows improved resistance to corrosion. The 317L Stainless Steel Tube is known for offering better general and localized corrosion when compared to the 316L grade stainless steel. They also offer good formability and weldability.
The 317L tubes are well-known for showing increased resistance to chemical attacks, especially from acids. Due to the low carbon content in the 317L Tubing material, it shows better resistance to sensitization when it is welded. It is also non-magnetic in nature.

How AISI 317L seamless tubes are different from alloy 317LMN?
They 317lmn and AISI 317L Seamless Tubes have differences in their chemical composition. The Alloy 317LMN has slightly higher content of molybdenum and nitrogen than the grade 317L material. 317lmn is known for its superior resistance to both generalized and localized corrosion, compared to the 317L and most other media.
It is because of the presence of higher molybdenum content. This grade also has enhanced strength when compared to the ASTM A213 TP317L. Also, the 317lmn grade can be hardened by cold working and not by any kind of heat treatment. They are mostly used in pharmaceutical and food processing applications.

Why 317L tubing is a recommended material for heat exchanger and boiler
Due to the low carbon content in the SS 317L Heat Exchanger Tubes, they offer excellent resistance to sensitization during the welding procedure. They also show good stress to rupture at elevated temperatures. One of the top advantages of 317L tubes, apart from aesthetic appearance, is that they do not get hardened by heat treatment and can be easily used in various high temperature applications. This is why all the reputed 317L Tubes stockist recommend the products for heat exchangers and boilers.
