What is Stainless Steel Hydraulic Tubing?

Stainless steel hydraulic tubing can be defined as an enhanced hydraulic tubing with properties optimized for high pressure hydraulic systems. This tubing utilizes a material of Stainless Steel thereby making it easy to use in areas that have a lot of moisture, chemicals and extreme temperatures.

Because of its high strength and capability to bear internal pressure, it is used for transferring hydraulic fluids in aerospace, automobiles, marine, and industrial machine sectors. Stainless steel hydraulic tubing also possesses smooth inner surface, which means that it does not have many pressure variations and has fluid flow characteristics. Stainless steel tubing offers excellent wear protection, pitting and cracking resistance, hence allowing straightforward, cost effective and low risk designs that lower on hydraulic system maintenance and lengthen their service life, making it a material of choice for critical applications.

304 vs 316 Stainless Steel Honed Tube

The primary difference between the two grades is in their chemical composition. Due to the added molybdenum in 316 SS Honed Tube materials, it comes with more corrosion resistance and is more expensive. They are also more resistant to pitting in salt environments and other types of corrosion.

316 grade material can be a good choice for the marine applications. They also offer excellent rust resistance in different chloride and acidic solutions. 316 also shows better performance in temperatures above 843 ℃ and below 454 ℃. However, if your application requires moderate corrosion resistance, the SS 304 Hydraulic Honed Tubes are preferred as it is more economical.
